Fat transfer: The plastic surgeon uses Liposuction or excision process to transfer fat from various places on the body. The patient’s fat is either injected or surgically placed into the lips. Injectable dermal fillers: It is the most common used method of Lip Augmentation. These fillers can be injected into your lips or around the mouth. Most commonly used fillers are Hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers: These fillers can improve the appearance of your lips by adding shape, structure, and volume to them. The effect of the filler lasts for around six months. Commonly available fillers in the market are:

You are not a good candidate for the procedure if you have an infection, you are diabetic or is a Lupus patient or have blood-clotting problems. Procedure The Lip augmentation procedure is quick and is performed with little to no downtime. If the procedure involves fat transfer, then it may take a bit longer. Before the procedure, the doctor administers a topical or local numbing agent, to ease the discomfort. After this, he carefully marks the area to be injected. The surgeon uses very fine needles to inject the substance into your lips. After the injection, ice is applied on the area, to ease the discomfort and to control the swelling. You notice the change in the area immediately. After you are healed properly, your lips will start looking natural.

  • Bruising at the injected site
  • Lip asymmetry
  • Lumps
  • Scarring and ulcerations


You may observe the change in your lips immediately after the procedure. For a few days, you are not allowed to apply lip colors on the area. The healing takes a few days.
